Following the purchase of a new Orbotech Sprint 8 ink jet legend printer, Zot Engineering, based near Edinburgh, decided to use the opportunity to evaluate legend inks

Trials were carried out on three inks from three different suppliers. Among other things the inks were assessed for ease of use, definition and adhesion.

On completion of the trials Zot Engineering chose the Taiyo ink due to it's excellent definition and superior adhesion. IJR4000 MW300 has excellent adhesion on Copper, and cured and uncured soldermask.

Lamar Virtualises its Servers!

Our core business system is fit for purpose having been developed in-house over many years.  However, it was becoming increasingly difficult to source a server that would run the Network Operating System (NOS), required to run the core business.

A new server with VM Ware installed, allowed us to create the NOS that we required, thus future proofing our core system.

We also virtualised our Windows Server, which is now incorporated in the same unit as our main NOS.  This has been a win win experience for us, as it has allowed us to reduce costs on power, maintenance times and our IT manager now has a test bed for future development.  Added to all this, the system actually runs faster when virtualised.

Shop Floor Promotion

Following Robert's move to KSM Superclean, a void was left in the Lamar Sales team.  This void has now been filled by Peter Grayston.

Peter has worked with Lamar for 15 years now as a process operator and we are delighted to offer him the opportunity to advance himself within the organisation.  In a move characteristic of Peter's personality, he selflessly advised many of his fellow shop floor workers to apply for the position.  Peter said "Everyone should apply for this job as it shows that there is the chance of moving up the career ladder and that must help to motivate the workforce".

Congratulations Peter and welcome to the sales team.

New post created to promote new products

Lamar Group's portfolio of products has increased yet again with the addition of Bioclimatic air purification products, which will be distributed by KSM Superclean, which is a part of the Lamar Group.

With the expansion of the product range a new position was created within KSM Superclean for a Sales Executive.  This post has been filled by Robert Poole.  Robert has been employed within the Lamar Group for over 17 years and is relishing the new challenge that lies ahead in promoting and selling the new Bioclimatic products and the existing KSM Superclean range of contact cleaning products.

"My role within Lamar has changed greatly over the years, from simple data entry to a varied post, which included, sales support, despatch management and web maintenance.  This move to KSM Superclean, however, is a change of direction for me, as I will now be more hands on with our customers".
